WE GOT YOU MOST OF THE WAY THERE AND DROPPED THE FREE FILES BELOW! WE INCLUDED SOME SOLID CAD FILES SO YOU CAN TWEEK IT! INCLUDING THE PROPS & WINGS!

 

ADAPTATION IS REQUIRED. BUT IT'S NOT GONNA TAKE MUCH GUYS! REMEMBER, IT'S NOT ABOUT MAKING IT CRASH PROOF- IT'S ABOUT GETTING THE PROPULSION TO BE EFFECTIVE ..OR... BUILDING LIGHT ENOUGH TO MAKE IT WORK AS IS. OR BOTH.

RULES

​​​

  1. No scaling, lengthening, or chopping of aircraft sections, except for aerodynamic purposes. Example- Increasing or decreasing wing panels for added lift or aerodynamic improvement is allowed. The aircraft must remain in the given scale, however. 

  2. Maximum Flight Weight - 9 oz (255 g).

  3. The wings, fuselage, horizontal stabilizer, vertical stabilizer, nacelles, and other primary airframe components must be 3D printed.

  4. The aircraft must use 3D printed six-blade 100mm - 105mm diameter propellers for propulsion. Scale-looking & functional propellers are the goal.

  5. You may redesign or modify any supplied STL or STEP files. Competitors are encouraged to modify the supplied propellers, wing panels, & "Fuselage B"  to improve performance.

  6. If you purchase the full Solid CAD file for modification, you may use it to modify any parts that are not available in the FREE STL file package download such as, Landing Gear, Horizontal & Vertical stabilizers, or Fuselage sections for the purpose of component installation. HM3D will judge based on the amount of modification to the airframe outline & decide winners based on efforts to maintain scale features and dimensions. 

  7. You may use any electronics, hardware, adhesives, reinforcement materials, landing gear, bearings, carbon fiber, or construction methods you believe will improve performance while complying with the challenge rules.

  8. Builders are encouraged to reduce weight wherever practical while maintaining structural integrity.

  9. You may use the recommended BOM or any alternative electronics of your choice.

To be considered a successful completion, your aircraft must:

​

  • Utilize & demonstrate Nose Wheel Steering.

  • Display video of working Rudder (ground footage okay).

  • Take off from the ground under its own power.

  • Demonstrate stable, sustained flight.

  • Perform turns.

  • Demonstrate climbs and descents.

  • Return to the original takeoff area.

  • Complete a safe landing.

Submission Requirements:
 

Before midnight (local time) on Sunday, July 19, submit:​

  • A video link showing the flight.

  • A complete list of electronics used.

  • A summary of any design or airframe modifications.

  • A brief explanation of your control setup and aircraft configuration.

Winner Selection:

​

  • The first priority is a successful flight meeting all requirements above.

  • If no entrant completes every requirement, the best overall demonstration will be selected by HM3D up to one winner.​

  • Up to 3 Winners- If multiple contestants achieve the goal, the TOP 3, chosen by HM3D, will be considered the Winners, & all 3 will receive the winner prizes.
